Historia del topacio azul.
La palabra topacio proviene del sánscrito que significa fuego. También podría derivarse de una palabra griega anterior topazos, o topazion, que significa buscar y podría describir cualquier piedra amarilla en el pasado en CATEGORÍA JOYAS DE PLATA .
Los griegos creían que podía aumentar la fuerza y ocultar a su portador, y los romanos creían que podía usarse para mejorar la vista. Se creía que los egipcios usaban esto como un amuleto para proteger sus extremidades de las heridas.
También se cree que el topacio cambia de color cuando está en presencia de alimentos o bebidas envenenadas.
El topacio más conocido en realidad es uno incoloro que inicialmente se pensó que era un diamante. Es una piedra de 1680 quilates denominada “el “Diamante de Braganza” engastada en las Joyas de la Corona portuguesa.
Los topacios con tonalidades rojas y rosadas fueron descubiertos en Rusia durante el siglo XIX y declarados por el zar como pertenecientes solo a su familia real y a él mismo. Esta es la razón por la que a veces se hace referencia al topacio como 'Topacio imperial'.
